James Bruce
James Bruce is the founding partner of Bridgeport Law Group. A Portland native and graduate of the University of Oregon School of Law, James brings nearly 20 years of experience in estate planning and business law to the firm. James understands that planning for the future—whether for your family or your business—is about more than just documents; it’s about securing your peace of mind. He takes pride in helping families protect their legacies and guiding entrepreneurs to achieve their goals, all while building lasting relationships founded on trust and integrity. Whether you need assistance with estate planning, real estate, or business law, James Bruce is committed to providing exceptional legal counsel with a personal touch.
When he’s not in the office, James is a devoted family man who is raising his two children in Lake Oswego, where his law practice is also located. James enjoys spending time with his wife and kids, fishing Oregon’s lakes and rivers, cheering on the Ducks, and staying active in his community.
Chris Cohen
Chris Cohen is an associate at Bridgeport Law Group, where he specializes in estate planning and legal support for small businesses. A graduate of Cardozo School of Law in NYC, Chris is admitted to the bar of New York State. He is provisionally licensed to practice in Oregon, with full admission expected in mid-2025.Known for his approachable style and meticulous attention to detail, Chris works closely with Bridgeport Law Group’s clients to develop tailored solutions that meet their unique needs.
In addition to his legal career, Chris is a serial entrepreneur with extensive experience in hospitality, craft beer, and online courses. His entrepreneurial background gives him unique insight into the challenges small business owners face.
Chris graduated from Florida State University and lived in New York City and San Francisco prior to making Oregon his home. He and his wife, a native Oregonian, live in Portland.


Jeremy Herrig
Jeremy Herrig serves as Of Counsel at Bridgeport Law Group, bringing nearly 20 years of diverse legal experience to the firm. A 2006 graduate of the University of Oregon School of Law, Jeremy specializes in business law, estate planning, probate, and trademark.
Jeremy is an analytical and research-focused attorney who has represented local, regional, national, and international clients across a wide range of industries. His ability to navigate complex legal challenges with precision and creativity has made him a trusted advisor. As part of the Bridgeport Law Group team, Jeremy applies his broad legal expertise to help clients achieve their business goals and protect their assets.
Originally from Iowa, Jeremy graduated from Northwestern University in 2002. In his free time, Jeremy is an expert skier, live music fan, foodie, and beer geek.
Jan M. Walstead
Jan M. Walstead is the Legal Assistant for attorney James Bruce and the Office Administrator for the Bridgeport Law Group. She began as part-time clerical support and receptionist. Over the last 10 years, she has included legal document drafting, legal research, and coordination of annual documentation for out-of-state corporate clients and most responsibilities necessary to maintain productivity in the law office.
With 30 years in managerial and administrative roles, Jan ensures smooth office operations and respectful client interactions.
Her values of loyalty, honesty and respect, combined with her professional skills, make her an invaluable asset to the team, contributing significantly to the firm’s reputation and client satisfaction.


Alina Mohr
Alina Mohr joined Bridgeport Law Group in 2021 as the firm’s Oregon Client Administrator. She brings exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and a positive mindset to her role. Originally from Romania, Alina earned her degree in Economics from the University of West in Timisoara in 2005 and completed a bookkeeping program at New York University in 2012.
With experience in arts administration and a deep commitment to her community, human rights, and family support, Alina shares the firm’s core values of professionalism and care.
Outside of work, Alina enjoys being a part time photographer and spending time with her husband and two children.
